Candlelit Romance

Although we're not having a big do as such I still like the idea of Wedding Candles! As you know I've done this before but I don't intend on doing it again and I really want to soak up every little bit of wedding I can. It's something I've only very recently been introduced to but it seems to be an emerging market with lots of brands bringing out their own versions. For those of you planning your own wedding this may be useful in a more conventional reception setting but this is more personal for me. I imagine lighting these candles as I get ready with my husband to be in our home. A scent that would remind us of that special day that we could light on our anniversary... or any romantic occasion really, doesn't that sound lovely?

Here are some available right now...

Yankee Candle Wedding Day - from £6.99 here
Alesia Barry Wedding Reception Candles - £15 here

Bluebell Wedding Candle - £12 here

Boudoir Photography

Now I'm not a total stranger to a little boudoir photography but the growing trend for brides to have this type of erotic portraiture done prior to their big day is one I'm not so sure about. The concept is a good one, a gift for your future husband and something to look back on with (hopefully) pride one day. It appeals to the narcissist in me and immediately brings me back to Samantha in SATC having nude photos taken. No matter what you think of yourself right now in 20 years you will look back and realise how slim and attractive you were. Perhaps a photo session such as this could show you that sooner... perhaps it is the perfect affirmation with which to begin your married life.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about taking my clothes off in front of total strangers but if I received beautiful images like the one above at the end of the day I think I could be persuaded.

The photo was taken from FYEO Portraits.
Packaged start from £199 and you can check out their site here

Would you strip off for the pro's?

My Last Bridal Magazine

Look what I picked up today! With the wedding potentially just weeks away I thought it could well be my last chance. There are some things you can only do in that (normally) short period of engagement and buying bridal magazines is one of them. Once you have been a bride you are a wife.. there's no cool magazine for that, is there?... is there? Perhaps I've found a gap in the market...

Hair-spiration

I'm leaning towards loose vintage-y pin curls to go with the ladylike cut of the dress.. thoughts?

THE ONE!

Apologies for the poor quality iPhone picture but I couldn't wait to post it! The dress arrived (available on ASOS here) and I am in love! It's perfect, fits so well and is just the right length. I will absolutely be wearing it with my hot pink KG heels (pictured). I can't believe I've finally found THE dress!

Runaway Dress

When I saw this dress on ASOS I couldn't help but be reminded of the dress Julia Roberts wore in Runaway Bride.. It's a sweet little dress and ANOTHER I'm ashamed to say I'm considering. I just want to find THE DRESS! The problem is I don't know what I'm looking for.. I'm just hoping to find it by chance on one of my many online browsing sessions.. unsuccessful thus far but this is a nice one!
It actually looks like a short wedding dress!

FYI : Until Monday 19/12/11 if you use code ASOSGRAZIA30 you'll get 30% off full priced items

What do you think?

*Please ignore my legs.. I still have some residual baby weight to shift before I wear any of these outfits*

So c'mon... which is it going to be? I can't help but feel every dress choice I have is just too short. That was the beauty of the Vegas wedding plan.. it didn't matter how inappropriate my dress may be deemed.. in fact the trashier the better.. in a register office I still want something informal but it's so hard to find the right balance. I want to be conservative yet quirky. Is it even possible?

ANOTHER Dress???

Okay so it might be the 5th dress option I've bought but at £14.99 (here) it was practically free!
I first saw it months ago in store and loved it, it was so Vegas appropriate but by this time we'd already agreed to forgo the chapel of love for a register office so close family could attend. Even at the original price of £34.99 it seemed a shame to pass up but I couldn't think when I'd wear it. When I saw it reduced online I had to have it.. I'm thinking it could be an after-party dress. There are still no firm wedding plans, I think it' likely to all be a bit whirlwind and last minute which is always exciting but I think perhaps there will be a meal somewhere afterwards with friends and maybe drinks.. this is very much a cocktail dress after all. I am planning a big dress post soon to show you each of my options and gather opinions.. they're all pretty forgiving, nothing clingy so even 2 weeks post partum I should be able to model them for you. Now there's a timer on Lee's divorce being final I have to start making some decisions.. it's all very well planning and planning and having all these random ideas and 5 dresses but it's actually going to happen soon and we don't have any real plans at all.

*eek*

The End is in Sight

FINALLY! Lee has received his decree nisi. His divorce papers will be processed on 17/11 and 6 weeks later he will be divorced. That does, unfortunately, scupper our Christmas wedding plans as 6 weeks takes us to 29/12. We need to give 16 days notice to marry which means the very earliest we can do it is 14/01. So next year. It's unreal how long we've been waiting for this to happen... close to 2 years, that's ridiculous! Anyway. I think the plan is still Sheffield Town Hall now, it's so lovely inside and still inexpensive. We will do it sometime in January and I'm excited. I suppose it will be nice to have something to look forward to after the baby, after Christmas and before our Vegas Vac-ay. January is still wintry and festive it just sucks that we can never have anything just as we want it. At least I can buy Ella and Milo's outfits in the January sales :P

Wedding Worthy Footwear *1*

Since I found my dress I've been browsing for shoes to match.. here are some I'm loving. I anticipate this being the first of many footwear posts between now and the big day (hence the title). Everything in this post is available from ASOS (click on the pictures to visit the links) oh and I haven't found the pound sign on my MacBook yet so the figures represent the prices... you'll just have to take my word for it!
ASOS Scala Metallic Court Shoe 25
River Island Studded Platform Heels  65
Carvela Auction Platform Stiletto Court 78
Sam Edelman Lorissa Suede Shoes 180

OK So the last one's a bit out there but I love the studs and my Mum wore hot pink shoes to her wedding.. perhaps I'll carry on the tradition...

Ultimate Budget Dress

I just picked this up from Primark for an unbelievable £17!!!! Obviously I had to share..
Unfortunately I'm at least a month away from being able to try it on so I'm keeping everything crossed that it fits nicely but worst case scenario... it was £17! Who cares?
It totally fits the bill for what I've been looking for, it's formal enough yet not a full on wedding dress, a conservative length, long sleeves for winter but they're sheer which stops it looking too dowdy. Perfect dress for a perfect price. Now to find some equally bargainous shoes....

What Dress Would HE Choose?

Earlier this year there was a feature in Brides Magazine where 3 girls were made over by their betrothed in the dress and style of their choosing. Ever since I have been meaning to do a post like this and after watching Don't Tell The Bride this evening it spurred me on. I never understand on those shows how the guy can get it so wrong. This is the person you're supposed to be "one" with.. how could you not know they would hate that big meringue? Anyway.. I sat Lee down with a dress gallery and got him to save all of the dresses he liked.. here they are

First of all you can't help but notice there's a lacey theme, right? Not something I'd have expected him to choose. They are all different in their own way but most are sleek in design and beautifully simple. I'm not keen on diamante and too much ruffle so there are a couple I perhaps wouldn't have chosen myself but I think I'd happily wear any of them down the aisle were they presented to me on the big day.
I am of course going to pick my favourites... they would have to be the top left and the one directly below it. Both so pretty and elegant. Now I don't intend to wear a big fancy dress to our wedding as it will be a low key affair but it's always fun to look and maybe now I'll look for something in lace...

I would recommend any engaged or open minded (don't want to scare him off) couple try this.. it's really fun and he might surprise you.

Suited and Bootied

Just had to share this..
If we get married after the baby in December the baby will obviously be there... you know what that means? A baby grow tuxedo!!! I've seen these so many times but it just popped into my head the other day and now I'm totally sold on the idea! I mean.. how cute would it be? Ella could have a nice dress and the baby will look like all dapper and cute... just like his Dad ;)
These are available all over the web but as soon as I buy one I'll link you up. I think waiting til the baby is born is the best idea.. I don't want to look back on my wedding photos and look huge. Right now I'm not so bad but towards the end I know I'll be a whale.. so this way I will get to wear a nice dress (courtesy of Spanx) and both f my children will be present. I've even found a photographer that's quoted me a very reasonable sum for the kind of photos I want. It could be just 3 months away..
How exciting!

Thursday, 1 September 2011

I'm watching SATC and had to share a Charlotte quote that I feel fits my situation perfectly. I know I've seen this episode in the past couple of years at least once and thought this before but here it is..

"I hate that I've finally found the love of my life and I can't celebrate it in a big big way"

When you're getting married for the second time you don't really expect anyone to take you seriously which is really quite sad. I don't have much else for now, just that thought.

Pregnant Bride?

I'm back again with more ridiculous mind changing! As Lee's divorce gets closer to being complete I find myself wondering if perhaps we could get married earlier... maybe even before the baby is born.
I've revisited the idea of Sheffield Register Office since I discovered the location has changed and there are some beautiful surroundings that would make for nice photos. My Dad is a bit of a photographer himself so he could take some pictures after the ceremony and he and my Mum could be our two witnesses. I feel that would encompass my wanting to do it as intimately as possible while not leaving my parents out and securing some memories for the wall. Here's my dilemma now. Is it just too tacky to be a pregnant bride? I do like the idea of a Christmas wedding, the children could both be there and I could have my figure back..however it would leave me just 6 weeks to get back into reasonable shape so would I rather be obviously pregnant or carrying residual baby weight? Not to mention how tired we're likely to be at that stage. I think if we're going to wait until the New Year we might as well just wait and do it in Vegas in March as planned but I just don't know if I'm going to want to wait once Lee is divorced. As is right now it's out of our hands but once we're both free to remarry it will be difficult to put it off.
At the end of the day we want to be married, why wait if we don't have to?
Over the next few weeks while we're waiting for news I'll be trawling through google images for inspiration but for the meantime.. here's a peek inside my mind...

It's BOOKED!

Well.. it's official... we have booked the trips to Vegas. I can tell you we will be visiting in March 2012 and I thought I'd share some photos of the hotel we finally decided on. We were umming and ahhing over so many but this one doesn't suck for location and the suites are just awesome so... it's done!
The Signature at The MGM Grand
When I went last I spent the majority of my days lazing by the pool and totally missed the whole Vegas experience so I don't intend to waste my time there this time. That being said that pool is epic and will no doubt draw me in once or twice. We can use all of the MGM facilities which is nice but the Signature is gated and everything there is reserved for hotel guests so in theory it will be quieter than the rest of the strip hotels. I think we're still set on The Chapel of The Bells for the wedding, I haven't seen anywhere I like more so that's that and the prices are really reasonable. We'll see, there's always time to change my mind.. we may not even book that in advance so it could be whatever we come across over there.
To say we are excited right now would be an under-statement. It feels like we have been waiting for this trip since we met so it will be so appreciated when it's finally here..
I bought another dress option recently so stay tuned for some pictures.. they will go up for the vote very soon!
