Wedding Night

I wasn't sure what to do on our wedding night. Because we don't have a reception venue the sensible thing would be to go home I guess but that's not very special is it?
Early on in our relationship we spent a lot of time at Premier Inns so they hold somewhat fond memories for us. They've recently opened a new hotel in our town centre and are offering rooms for the bargain price of £29...we can't not stay for £29!!

Premier Inn might not be everyones idea of romance but it's certainly fitting for us.

I Do Venue....

Today we took a trip out to visit Sheffield register office and the surrounding areas to get an idea of where we will be on the day and photo locations. It was ridiculously windy - fingers crossed the mild weather returns for the 28th - but we managed to get around and see everything we wanted to see and get plenty of photos. I'm really pleased with the location and the register office inside is amazing.. I can't quite believe it's costing so little.. it's like a stately home or something. I'm pretty sure it's a listed building.. a bit special! Just around the corner there's the Peace Gardens which are obviously a little lovelier in Summer but I was pleased to see the fountain still operates in the colder months. For a little warmth there's an indoor "Winter Gardens" in which I imagine we will have pictures taken with the children so as not to expose them to the January air. All in all it was a productive trip and I've come over all excited having seen the place we will be married in. Now I apologise for what is about to become a very picture heavy post but I found it difficult to pick and choose my favourites from the day.. here's what I narrowed it down to...

Let Them Eat Cake?

As a Master Baker (tee-hee) myself I am very tempted to bake my own wedding cake as 1. we're very tight on cash and 2. I'd really enjoy it. My quandary does not come from whether to make it myself so much as whether to have one AT ALL. I'm not yet 100% sure of our "reception" venue yet, it could be a restaurant, it could be our house.. that may make a difference first and foremost. A third party venue may not allow us to bring in our own food! I'm also not sure who will attend, if it's just 6 of us then is there much point? I suppose if I did individual cupcakes that would solve that problem but as we're not having an actual wedding (more like a quick I do and some drinks and nibbles) would cake be a bit... much?

What do you think?
What is a Wedding without the Wedding cake?

Photo Checklist

Now we're definitely getting married over here with friends and family I want to get the most out of it I can. We wanted to do it alone as you know but there are many benefits to letting others share in your special day and if this is the way we're doing it then I will be taking advantage of them! The main one of course is photography! I plan to have everyone take as many photos as possible in the hope we will have one or two that I can frame. There are certain photos we can set up and take ourselves (I'm a total control freak) but some we will have to rely on others for (nervous). Here are all the shots I want to get out of the day...

The Rings,
My Shoes,
Me Getting Ready,
My Dress,
A Kiss,
A Classic Bride & Groom Pose,
A Group Shot.
I pretty much only need help with two or three of those so finger crossed we will still get a nice collection of photos - after a little editing no doubt.

Exciting News!

All the necassary paperwork is in hand and we have our appointment booked to give notice on the 10th.. that's this coming tuesday!!! Giving notice then means the earliest date we can wed is 26/01 (you must leave 16 clear days). We're hoping for the 28th but waiting to hear if there's availability. We plan to visit city hall over the weekend and check out the area to get an idea of where we'll be on the day, where's good for photos etc. It's all getting very exciting.. I knew it would happen quickly once it happened but all being well we will be married in 22 days.. eee!

Candlelit Romance

Although we're not having a big do as such I still like the idea of Wedding Candles! As you know I've done this before but I don't intend on doing it again and I really want to soak up every little bit of wedding I can. It's something I've only very recently been introduced to but it seems to be an emerging market with lots of brands bringing out their own versions. For those of you planning your own wedding this may be useful in a more conventional reception setting but this is more personal for me. I imagine lighting these candles as I get ready with my husband to be in our home. A scent that would remind us of that special day that we could light on our anniversary... or any romantic occasion really, doesn't that sound lovely?

Here are some available right now...

Yankee Candle Wedding Day - from £6.99 here
Alesia Barry Wedding Reception Candles - £15 here

Bluebell Wedding Candle - £12 here

Boudoir Photography

Now I'm not a total stranger to a little boudoir photography but the growing trend for brides to have this type of erotic portraiture done prior to their big day is one I'm not so sure about. The concept is a good one, a gift for your future husband and something to look back on with (hopefully) pride one day. It appeals to the narcissist in me and immediately brings me back to Samantha in SATC having nude photos taken. No matter what you think of yourself right now in 20 years you will look back and realise how slim and attractive you were. Perhaps a photo session such as this could show you that sooner... perhaps it is the perfect affirmation with which to begin your married life.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about taking my clothes off in front of total strangers but if I received beautiful images like the one above at the end of the day I think I could be persuaded.

The photo was taken from FYEO Portraits.
Packaged start from £199 and you can check out their site here

Would you strip off for the pro's?
