It's BOOKED!

Well.. it's official... we have booked the trips to Vegas. I can tell you we will be visiting in March 2012 and I thought I'd share some photos of the hotel we finally decided on. We were umming and ahhing over so many but this one doesn't suck for location and the suites are just awesome so... it's done!
The Signature at The MGM Grand
When I went last I spent the majority of my days lazing by the pool and totally missed the whole Vegas experience so I don't intend to waste my time there this time. That being said that pool is epic and will no doubt draw me in once or twice. We can use all of the MGM facilities which is nice but the Signature is gated and everything there is reserved for hotel guests so in theory it will be quieter than the rest of the strip hotels. I think we're still set on The Chapel of The Bells for the wedding, I haven't seen anywhere I like more so that's that and the prices are really reasonable. We'll see, there's always time to change my mind.. we may not even book that in advance so it could be whatever we come across over there.
To say we are excited right now would be an under-statement. It feels like we have been waiting for this trip since we met so it will be so appreciated when it's finally here..
I bought another dress option recently so stay tuned for some pictures.. they will go up for the vote very soon!

Back on - Vegas or bust!

It was decided this week once and for all that the original Vegas plan is to go ahead or we're just not doing it. I can't get excited about doing it any other way. Various problems with Lee's divorce put things back time and time again and now I'm pregnant it really felt like the pressure was on to speed things up. In order to put all of those things aside and still do things the way we wanted to all along we have planned the trip for after the baby is born. April 2012! It will be booked this month... we are set on the chapel of the bells I think but the hotel is still up for discussion.
There is so much choice when it comes to Vegas hotels and it's a special occasion.. much research is needed to ensure we pick the one that wont disappoint! I want romance and opulence as well as location, a fantastic pool and all for a great price. I'm leaning towards to Signature hotel and the MGM Grand right now.. it's an all suite, non-gaming hotel that has received fantastic reviews on trip advisor.. I considered the Bellagio but it doesn't seem to be all that anymore. Last time I went I stayed at Caesars which was great but I'd like to try somewhere new so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm excited again that all of my previous planning and collecting hasn't gone to waste and when I'm good and pregnant I will have incentive to exercise and get back in to bikini body shape haha!

Screw City Hall

Well... As you know our second choice of wedding venue was Sheffield City Hall. It was my Mums idea which I fought at first but the more I looked at it the more I came around to it. The building is beautiful, the surroundings very picturesque, would get some great shots of th day by the fountain or the local botanical gardens. My parents and a couple of friends could attend.. it seemed a good choice. So it was decided. I happened to email the Hall today and request a brochure, I wanted to see the rooms, costs etc, and was told our party was too small. Apparently their rooms are too large for such a small ceremony. Huh!
I must say I was never in love with City Hall as our venue, I wasn't dying to get married there, it just seemed to please everyone else and I didn't hate it. But it was no Vegas.
Vegas was always the dream. It was a tough one 'cause holidays need to be booked, money needs to be saved and these things must be planned. The beauty of a vegas wedding is you can elope at a moments notice with no planning and without telling a soul.. that wouldn't work for us. More frustrating is that Lee is still waiting for his divorce to go to court so who knows how long it will be until we can actually do this thing. ARGH! I'm ready to tear my hair out at this point.
Anyway... All being well we will put some money aside and be able to book the trip as soon as his divorce is final. I do really still love the Chapel Of The Bells, it's so beautiful and seriously fantastic value.
I will update soon.. in the meantime I'm going to be uploading more  ideas posts.. just to distract me from the everyday.

Waking Up in Vegas

BelleDuJourNYC posted about this polish the other day and it really pushed me back over to the Vegas side! How ridiculous that a nail polish would decide the venue of my wedding..

It's the ultimate vegas wedding colour!

I really love it and it reminded me of all the stuff I collected over the last 6 months for our vegas trip! I love New York I really do but there is nowhere that I would feel excited about getting married in the city! The only budget option is city hall which is all well and good but where's the romance?
I had my heart set on the chapel of the bells...

It just looks how I want it to look and I can imagine saying our I do's there! It's spontaneous, no queuing.. We can go grab our licence and marry within hours of landing in Vegas and I love that! Plus of course many celebs have been married there (inc. The late, fabulous Leslie Nielsen and the gorgeous Kelly Rippa) and it's featured on one of our favourite films "Honeymoon In Vegas"

Best of all is the price! It is, in my opinion the best looking chapel in vegas (inside) and the cheapest too!!! I don't see the point in spending a fortune on a venue when it's just the two of us.. But we still want it to be romantic and a lovely setting for the photos we will treasure forever...

I've been back looking at hotels and flights etc and this is what I came up with..

For the money the Tropicana seems like the best deal! It has great reviews and was recently renovated... The pool looks incredible and having visited vegas once before I'm happy with the location!

So I'm back on the vegas train.. My heart will always be in New York but we will return one day! Vegas was always the plan and now I think we might stick to it!

Aaarggh!!!!

 I am so conflicted!
You may already know this about me.. I'm very indecisive!
So, to begin with we were going to vegas for sure... that was definitely what we wanted to do.
Then we decided we weren't gonna be divorced in time so we looked for alternatives..
We looked at our local register office (eugh), local cities that may have nicer town halls we could marry in... eg, York/Leeds/Sheffield. At my parents request we looked into Gretna Green (so expensive... thought eloping was sposed to be cheap) and then most recently we settled on London.
We thought if we couldn't go where we wanted maybe Christmas in London would be special?
mmm... Now I don't know. We still don't know that we'll be divorced by then so until we have that locked down we can't really make any solid plans anyway so that sucks.. But we keep going back to Vegas.
Part of the reason we were in kind of a rush was because we thought I'd be pregnant by now.. I wanted to be married before we had a baby (preferably before I was pregnant but at least within the first 3 months).
Now we've had our fertility issues (see baby making blog - http://missbbsbabybump.blogspot.com/) we really don't need to rush. There's always the chance I could conceive but I think we're 6 months off that so we have time to go Vegas after all... but now I'm thinking, can we really leave our families out of it? It was the initial plan but now I'm not sure... I'd love to go just the two of us and come back married... it would be romantic and exactly what I think I want but I don't want to look back in 10 years time and wish we'd had a big celebration. We can have a little party of course I just don't want to do anything I'll regret. I was so sure of how I wanted things that now I've had time to take a step back I'm really confused.
If we could go to Vegas tomorrow and get hitched that would be bliss... part of my issue is the timing.. I hate to wait for ANYTHING and I only have a few times in the next 6 month this trip would be possible.. maybe 2 or 3 dates we could go away for maybe 4 nights. If we put it off more than 6 months (which would be easier) I've a lot more chance of being pregnant... which is a good thing but scuppers my plans.
ARRGGHH!!! I'm a secret worrier and try to seem on the outside like I have everything figured out but in truth I have no idea.. so I'm sharing my nerves with you and asking for your help..
If you could get married anywhere where would it be? Home or away I'd love your suggestions.. I don't want a hotel or a beach wedding but am not opposed to outdoors... I don't want a big family affair but could handle maybe 6-8 guests if I must..
The best time we could do this would be February - my birthday is the 4th and Valentines in of course the 14th so they are potential romantic dates..
If anyone knows anywhere lovely in the UK then fab but I also would love to do it somewhere in America.. don't care where or what the weathers like...
WHATEVER
 help??

It's all over!!!

Hey Guys!
So it's over... it's all over!
I can't say I'm not dissappointed but my dreams of a Vegas wedding have finally been quashed.
What with the divorces taking forever to go through and Lee losing his job it just isn't going to happen.
So all my plans were pretty much for nothing, that's pretty gutting.
I think what will probably happen now is we will get married in London... this was one of our fallback ideas all along but we were never settled on it.
We have everything we need to go get married.. we just need to be officially divorced and then it will be like a 2 week wait and we will hot foot it down south and do the deed.
Of course I will be taking you guys with me and there should be many makeup/hair trials/tutorials in the weeks leading up to it but i think we could be waiting till christmas :(

Ah well I'll keep you guys updated as I go along

xoxo
